Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This is the privacy notice for stdbee.com, operated by StdBee ("we", "us"). It covers the information we deal with and the options open to you. Briefly: the data you paste is computed locally and never leaves your machine.

Scope of this policy

The tool this page covers is StdBee, a standard deviation calculator. Put simply, it computes population and sample standard deviation, variance, mean and count from a batch of numbers, with input cleaning and step-by-step working, and the way it does so is this: it distinguishes the population and sample formulas by the divisor — N or N-1 — which is the difference that makes a sample estimate slightly larger, and shows each step so the arithmetic can be followed. Everything stated here applies to that tool and the values it handles, and to nothing else.

Practically, all the calculation needs is the data you paste. Typical reasons people open StdBee include checking the spread of a set of measurements, and in every case the work happens on the visitor's own device rather than ours.

Data you give the tool

All processing happens on your device. Your input is handed to the page's own script, a result comes back, and that is the whole exchange. No request leaves your machine, and no copy of what you entered exists once the tab is closed.

What you type stays local

Every value you type is handled by the page itself. Once you close it there is no record of what you entered, because none was created.

Retention and security

StdBee keeps nothing that identifies you and nothing you calculated. The only security surface that matters is the site's own delivery, which is encrypted throughout and patched when it needs to be.

Children and the site

StdBee provides general-purpose tools and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your privacy rights

Regional privacy law may grant you rights of access, correction, deletion or objection. Write to us to exercise them: because most of what the tool handles never reaches a server, there is rarely anything on file to act on.

Updates to this page

StdBee revises this page whenever the way it handles data changes; the "last updated" line at the top always shows the current version.

What is collected automatically

The hosting layer sees what any web server sees — client address, requested path, user agent, time — and that is the limit of it. None of those records contains the values you type into the standard deviation calculator, because those never reach the server.

How cookies and adverts work here

Advertising keeps the site free and is delivered by external networks, which may use cookies or similar technologies to show interest-based ads. Google, as one such partner, lets you opt out through its ad settings. Turning cookies off does not break anything here.

Analytics

Any measurement we do is statistical rather than personal: how many people opened a page, roughly where from, and which tools get used. It is aggregated before it is read, and the values you type are never part of it.
